President's Report December 2011
Thank you to retiring President: On behalf of all of Judo Victoria I wish to

our body. Michael successfully made the transition from being an elite competitor and
Olympian to become a successful coach running the Mornington Judo Club, and the

10th KIC Cup Tournament Report
The 10th KIC Cup was held in the Katsumata Centre on Friday the 18
roaring success. With 160 entries from 16 schools it was easily the biggest tournament held yet. For
all that, the tournament proceeded very smoothly, thanks to the leadership and teamwork
demonstrated by our senior school judo club members. This team carried out tasks such as
refereeing, time-keeping, scoring, recording results and any other jobs that needed doing on the day,
such as heaving judo mats into and out of trucks!

Victorian International Open Championship
The twenty second VIOC was run over the weekend 2nd and 3rd October 2010 at the Indoor Sports Centre Monash University. After months of preparation by many people behind the scenes, my first physical contact took place at the venue at 2 pm on Friday. Susie and a team of helpers descended on the empty basketball stadium. Trucks converged carrying mats and private vehicles carrying endless boxes and paraphernalia arrived. The Audio/sound man from Solution Red arrived and commenced setting up. ...

Presidents Report May 2010
Since my last report three tournaments ago, a training camp and a Kata seminar have taken place in Victoria. The annual Shoreham training camp organised by Sandy Hollingsworth, and this year Tristen Everett, was once again successfully run during the long weekend in March. There were a number of guest coaches including Mr. Yamada and myself on the Sunday. It was terrific to see the enthusiasm displayed by the fifty odd, primarily junior group. Sandy noted this year the behavior of the participants made running the camp a breeze. Congratulations to all who participated and many thanks to the volunteers who gave up their time to promote judo.

Presidents Report February 2010
2010 is shaping up to be a year full of surprises. Thus far judo members in Victoria have sadly seen the passing of a long standing member of our Judo community.
On January 29th former JFA President Arthur Moorshead passed away peacefully after suffering ill health for some time. He will be remembered for running a very successful Club, (Caulfield Judo Club) as a long standing committee member of the then JFA Vic and the mentor to many of Victoria?s most successful competitors. I will remember Arthur as saying to me one day he loved every minute he spent doing Judo, which I think sums up his passion for the sport. I personally wish Susie and Arthur?s family commiserations and all the best for the future.
