John Walker

Dear Judoka's

Unfortunately I must inform you of the passing of one of Victoria's Judo players, John Walker.
John passed away quietly on Monday afternoon after a long and brave fight with Multiple Muscular Dystrophy.
John represented Victoria in both the AAJA and JFA at National and at international level as a light weight.
His company "Victorian Home Loans" sponsored the Victorian Team.
He always assisted Judo players with Judo and with business.
The family would like to see as many of the Judo fraternity as possible at the service.
His funeral service is to be held on this coming Saturday 12;00 mid day 22.1.11 at The Carousel 22 Aughtie Dr Albert Park Lake.

Dear Members,

A brief note on a sad passing.

Having travelled, and roomed, with John Walker as a Team Member of the inaugural 1980 Australian Judo Pac Rim Team I can say John was a man of extreme fitness.
I have some fond memories of John, and believe me when I state, he gave it his all when he competed.
I also know John displayed this fighting spirit while trying to fight off his illness.
There are many who would agree that John Walker was one of Victoria’s finest lightweight judoka.
On behalf of the Victorian Judo community can I send our deepest condolences to all of John's family.
